Peo Planters
Nthabiseng JahRose Jafta
In this book, the poet recognizes other people as “Dipeo” – Seeds – and Planters. This is a vista into a whole person. From a safe distance. In this case, she sees people in their wholeness and celebrates this wholeness, near divine.
Paying homage to being, from being to being – the reader. The poet herself, or anyone who gives and audience to her – Jafta writes in “Another Pep Planter” about how greatness came to be:
Once upon a time / ‘ A tiny little seed / Planted in your mother’s soul / Nourished by heavenly rains / Shadowed by mountainous rocks / You were tilled by land that scaped you / To greatness / Until the rupturing of membranes / And you globe giant were delivered..’
